DIG Deeper in Uganda: Batwa Program
DIG spent two months assessing the community, crop viability, and how to implement the program.
DIG found that the average household was only educated to the equivalent of grade 1.
Steep graded landscapes, low soil fertility, and water insecurity posed a challenge and vegetable variety and sustainable techniques were carefully chosen.
DIG set up a 3-phase field school to train more than 80% of the households in nutrition, sustainable agriculture, & cooking and developed home gardens in 105 of the 160 households!
