The morning seminar will explore the deep formation that happens in Christian worship. How we understand some of the key moments in a worship service will help us better understand how the Holy Spirit is active in our hearts and lives.

“The Sarasota Statement” – One of the fascinating features of the Presbyterian tradition is that we tend to write confessional statements. From the Scots Confession way back in 1561 to the brand new Sarasota Statement of 2017, we are a people that are continually drawn to state what we believe and why it makes a difference. This hour we will unpack this new Presbyterian confession that states our faith in a fresh context.

12pm Luncheon in the Davis Family Hall catered by Joe's Cafe

Menu: Chicken and Sausage Gumbo with Rice, Salad, Baguette and Dessert

Children's Menu: Hot dogs and chips with a cookie and juice box

Reservations are required for lunch. The cost is $8.00 per person, $3.00 per child.

Tickets will be on sale in the Reception area from 10:45-11:00am this Sunday.

More about Dr. Van Dyk

Leanne Van Dyk is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has taught theology at both San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Francisco and at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. During these years, she moved into academic administration and is now serving as the 10th president of Columbia Theological Seminary. Leanne loves reading, cooking, hiking, and bicycling. She also loves visiting her daughter, who lives in Brooklyn, New York.
