Advent 2022

Advent 2022

Each year, Advent offers us an opportunity to celebrate the coming of the Christ in the infant Jesus. Advent means “coming,” so we might even use the season as a time of renewal as we meditate on all that Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection have meant to us and to the world.

This year, our Advent focus is on the names of Jesus as prophesied in Isaiah 9:

For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders, and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 7:6-7

Join us on Sundays for worship as we meditate on each of these amazing names. We’ll hear and sing the music of the season and bask in the beauty of our historic sanctuary decked out in the season’s finest! Then make plans to participate in the many and varied special events scheduled throughout Advent, from vespers services and special studies to concerts and family events. Watch your email for news of specific happenings (not getting SHPC’s churchwide emails? Subscribe here) or click the button below for the full schedule.
