The Good Samaritan ministry’s mission is to serve South Highland Presbyterian’s congregation and its neighbors in tangible expressions of the love of God. Through faithful stewardship and compassionate outreach, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ, ensuring that no one in our congregation or neighborhood faces their financial burdens alone. Inspired by Jesus’ call to love our neighbors, we provide prayers, counseling and financial assistance to struggling individuals and families, offering hope, dignity, and tangible support in times of hardship.

South Highland’s Good Samaritan Ministry is an assistance outreach to people living within the church’s ZIP code and to church members who have an immediate need for financial help. We assist primarily with utility bills, transportation expenses and the purchase of school items. The assistance is intended to help recipients out of a tight spot and is provided to an individual no more than three times within one year. Applicants must complete a brief assistance form; assistance is available by in-person visit to the church on the third Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. until noon. We also are committed to providing prayer support and other resources as available.
Donations for Good Sam are received on the first Sunday of each month, when donation baskets are available at the exit doors of the Chapel and Sanctuary. You may also donate online (choose the Good Samaritan fund) or mail a check to the church.
Volunteers are welcome to come to the church on the third Wednesday of the month to welcome Good Sam applicants. New volunteers can learn from experienced ones, and binder of easy-to-understand policies and procedures is on hand to provide answers to questions.
