Music Ministry

Music Ministry

South Highland’s Music Ministry serves to equip and enable worship that is fully alive with the passion of Christ.

If you’re interested in singing in the Chancel Choir, ringing in the Handbell Choir, playing an instrument in worship, or if you simply want to learn more, contact Director of Music Ministry Matthew Grauberger.

Our Music

Our music is liturgically rooted in the rich, dynamic tradition of Christian worship. We worship God with timeless hymns, sacred classics, folk songs, and new expressions of praise and worship.

Our People

All ages are welcome to join us as we share our gifts and lead God’s people in worship. Our rehearsals, events, and season celebrations are not just about music but are also times of fellowship and prayer.

Our Role

We train and equip worship leaders because music plays an important role in equipping our families to be worshipers. We help the church to worship God on Sundays and in all of life.

Get Involved

Chancel Choir – The Chancel Choir leads our church in hymn singing and shares sacred choral anthems from the likes of Bach, Handel, John Rutter, and Dan Forrest. We rehearse on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. in the Music Ministry Suite. We encourage singers of all ages and abilities to join us!

Handbell Choir – Our Handbell Choir rings five octaves of Schulmerich handbells and leads us in worship at least once a month. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in August through May. We encourage musicians all ages and abilities to ring with us.

Children’s Choir – Our Children’s Choir makes music regularly during the Children’s Ministry Sunday School.  Our children lead us in worship several times throughout the year.  If you’re interested in learning more please contact Virginia Barr.

No Longer Strangers Band – Our resident gospel bluegrass and folk band leads us in Sunday morning worship on a biannual basis in addition to playing numerous events and services throughout the greater Birmingham community.

Additional Opportunities – Whether you play guitar, drums, violin, or trumpet, there are opportunities for you to join the Music Ministry in worship leadership. Our Music Ministry is a collaborative environment that encourages musicians from all traditions and genres to help lead us in worship.
