Students interested in applying for undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships through South Highland can use this page to access applications for three funds established by longtime SHPC church members. Applications open January 12, 2026. Deadline for submitting completed applications is February 16, 2026.
The F.A. Mathes Scholarship
The F.A. Mathes Scholarship is a one-year renewable grant, awarded to an active member of SHPC or another PC(U.S.A.) church who is working toward an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree.
Note: The Mathes and Dunaway Scholarships use a shared application form.
The Helen Mohns Dunaway Seminary Scholarship
The Helen Mohns Dunaway Seminary Scholarship is a one-year renewable grant, awarded to an active member of SHPC or another PC(U.S.A.) church who is studying for the ordained ministry of the Word and Sacrament, or for ministry as a Christian Educator, in the PC(U.S.A.).
Note: The Mathes and Dunaway Scholarships use a shared application form.
The Virginia H. Jones Scholarship Fund
Applications for the Jones scholarships are invited from SHPC:
- Staff and active members for vocational, post-secondary and/or other training purposes. This would cover fees for all sorts of vocational education including but not limited to medical technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, secretarial skills, technical skills, and administration training courses.
- Active members contemplating mission trips and activities or attending Christian meetings/conferences. This would cover activity, travel and attendance costs or fees.
This fund does not cover degree programs such as associate or bachelor degrees. These programs are covered by the F.A. Mathes Fund.
Applications are due February 16, 2026. The Scholarship Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Administration Ministry Team in March. The recommendations are passed to the Session where grants are approved at their April meeting.
It is a blessing to be able to offer support to our college and seminary bound students through contributions of gifts to both funds. All South Highland members are encouraged to participate.
