Global Witness Season

Global Witness Season

Praise the Lord, all you nations! Extol Him, all you peoples!

Psalm 117:1

This year’s Global Witness Season contains a call from the Psalmist for all nations and peoples to offer praise and worship to God the Creator. It is a reminder for us that the Lord’s desire is for all peoples and all nations to know of God’s loving mercy and forgiveness. Join us this Witness Season for stories of how our mission partners around the world are doing the Lord’s work of discipleship, peacemaking and reconciliation.

Sunday, February 1

Dr. Timothy Tennent preached at both services and led a churchwide Sunday School in Davis Family Hall on “World Religions and a Christian Response.” Dr. Tennent is the Professor of Mission and World Christianity at Beeson Divinity School. He previously served for 15 years as the president of Asbury Theological Seminary, and for 11 years as Professor of World Missions and Indian Studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He completed his Ph.D. in Non-western Christianity with a focus on Hinduism and Indian Christianity at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

We spent the morning with our mission partner Frontier Fellowship. We also received this year’s Global Witness offering.

  • Worship at 8:30 and 11:00 Executive Director Pastor Ethan Collins preached at both services. Ethan and his wife, Amber, served for two years with Africa Inland Mission in Kenya, then served in mission and outreach ministries at large churches in Texas and Arizona.
  • Sunday School at 9:30: “From South Highland to the Sahel: An Invitation to Engage With Frontier Peoples” We heard from Dr. Uchenna Anyanwu, Associate Director for Diaspora Ministry and Intercultural Engagement.
