Join South Highland for special events and worship throughout Advent.
Immanuel Concert Event – Christian singer/songwriter Melanie Penn brings her “Immanuel” Christmas show to the sanctuary of South Highland Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. The album, a songwriting journey through the Christmas story, dropped in 2017 to rave reviews and reached number one on Amazon charts. This is a concert you won’t want to miss. Presented in association with InSpero, this is a ticketed event, with tickets priced at $20. Learn more and get tickets here.
Christmas Together – South Highland’s family Christmas tradition continues Sunday, December 15 at 4:00 p.m. with a brand new children’s Christmas pageant directed by children’s music director Casey Blighton. We’ll also receive this year’s Christmas Joy Offering and enjoy a delicious South Highland potluck supper. Bring the whole family!
Nine Lessons and Carols – Sunday worship on December 22 will be one service only in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m., as the Chancel Choir brings a selection of beautiful Christmas anthems alongside favorite congregational carols. Come and hear the story of Christ’s coming beginning in the Old Testament prophecies and culminating on that holy night in Bethlehem.
Christmas Eve at South Highland – Come and worship the newborn king in a beautiful service surrounded by the greenery of the season and the glow of candlelight, with the celebration of Holy Communion. Family service is at 4:00 p.m. with traditional worship at 6:00 p.m. (the 6 p.m. service will be live streamed).

- Choral Evensong – Join us Sunday, November 24 at 4:00 p.m. for a beautiful service of Choral Evensong in the Sanctuary. This peaceful time of prayer, psalms and music has roots in the Episcopal tradition and is a great way to begin preparations for Advent. Director of music ministries Kenny Lewis and the Chancel Choir will offer beautiful music as the framework for a wonderful time of worship.
- Kids Advent Wreath Workshop – During the Sunday School hour Sunday, December 1, Kathy Tracey will lead kids of all ages in creating their own Advent wreaths to take home.
- Family Movie Night – Parents, put the kids in their PJs and come to the Youth Suite on Sunday, December 8 at 4 p.m. to enjoy a delightful family Christmas movie, The Star, plus a kid-friendly supper.
- SHALOM Christmas Luncheon – Our Senior Adults have set their annual Christmas luncheon for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17 at The Club. Make your reservation now for this special event featuring music guest Judy Sullivan Hicks, principle harpist for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Come for spectacular city views from the Inn Room, delicious food, wonderful music and Christmas cheer with your SHPC family! Cost is $32 payable at the door.
