“Memory in the Mirror” is a gathering for any woman who has experienced or is preparing for the death of her mother. Whether we are 6 or 60, whether her death was sudden or anticipated, the loss of our mother impacts us and bonds us with women who share the same loss. She may have been caring and lovely; she may have left us with questions and even hurt.
Led by Rev. Dr. Jacky Gatliff, founder of New Hope Grief Care, Memory in the Mirror guides us to find God in the middle of our grief and invites us to look at ways our mothers are part of the legacy we create in our own lives.
Where: South Highland Presbyterian Church in the Davis Family Hall
When: May 8, 2025, from 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Cost: $15 (includes dinner and printed materials)
You’re invited to bring a tangible memory or a story of your mother to share with your table.
More about Rev. Dr. Jacky Gatliff

For more than 20 years, Jacky has guided and cared for others who are grieving. A graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Jacky studied and taught spiritual care and bereavement at Madonna University, and she served as the Director of Grief Support Services at Arbor Hospice in Michigan for seven years. She did further studies to understand how God meets and transforms us in our grief for her Doctor of Ministry thesis project, “The Soul Work of Grief.” Caring for those who are grieving has been a consistent theme in the variety of ministry settings where she has served.
Within a period of 27 months, Jacky experienced the death of her ‘soul-friend’ Gretchen and both her parents. All three were lingering hospice deaths. Her personal experience of grief and knowing how God is a transforming presence during the overwhelming and difficult days gives her a hope, firm and secure, that she offers to those who are grieving.
