Rise Against Hunger returns to SHPC Saturday, August 27 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Bring the whole family and join other South Highlanders as together we package 15,000 meals for people around the world who desperately need food assistance.

Rise Against Hunger meals represent the hopes and dreams of people worldwide. Volunteers are the heart of the mission to end hunger and they could not send millions of meals around the globe each year without them. The event combines an assembly line process with an educational experience to not only make a huge impact worldwide, but to touch the lives of those volunteering.

There are two ways you can get involved. First, volunteer your morning for this amazing mission. The event requires nearly 100 volunteers of all ages to scoop ingredients, seal packages, pack boxes and more. It’s a fun time filled with energy and excitement. Childcare under age 3 is available. Second, make a donation. The nearly $6,000 cost of the Rise Against Hunger event is not covered by the church’s outreach budget, so financial gifts are critical. Since our last event, per-meal cost has gone up by almost nine percent; multiply that out by 15,000 meals, and you’ll understand the need for your support. Click here to make a donation, or place your designated check in the offering plate on Sunday.
